ACER has released two documents over the past days:
The open letter includes some general observations and statements in the first half, and goes on to cover some specific points. These include:
- A statement that identifier information in the “CEREMP” database such as EIC X codes, must be up to date to be used for reporting.
- That non rejection when reporting does not mean that the record has been reported in a compliant manner.
- Timely lifecycle event reporting is as important as new record reporting.
- A promise of further evaluation in the future on some issues.
The letter represents ACER’s ongoing efforts to improve data quality so that it can be used for effective market monitoring.
The latest Quarterly newsletter opens with a detailed look at two recent market manipulation case, including the Intergen case (see here). The newsletter then reveals that the number of cases under investigation by ACER continues to increase.
The newsletter continues with an article on the potential market in hydrogen, and the increased focus on using hydrogen in various ways. It looks at the relationship between the current industry and the wholesale energy market. It suggests that a future market in hydrogen, either integrated into the current wholesale energy market or separate, is likely to require a similar style of monitoring to the existing market. The implication is that either REMIT or a parallel regime will eventually encompass hydrogen, in the second half of the decade.
