ACER releases annual activity report – looking at the REMIT sections

ACER has released their annual activity report which can be found here. The report covers all ACER activity, which relates not only to REMIT and market monitoring, but also ACER’s wider activity relating to the completion Internal Energy Market, the roll out of network codes, the clean energy package and the coordination of the roll out of the CACM and FCA rules across different jurisdictions. Overall the report states that ACER met its objectives, with a few minor points missed, despite suffering from resource shortages.

Focusing on the REMIT part of the report which starts on page 37, the report highlights the start of data collection, which was achieved within the given timeline. However due to the budget constraints, it was necessary to de-prioritise certain activities such as provision of wider data access and more cooperation with other regulatory authorities. The focus of data collection is now on quality (see here). New structures have been put in place so that surveillance activity can be carried out going forward. Finally, the annual REMIT report was produced (see here) with over 45 downloads of it in the first month.
