MiFID II has this week been published in the EU Official Journal. This means that it enters into force on 2 July 2014. The rules enter into effect 30 months after this date, on 2 January 2017, by which all that it applies to need to be compliant.

ESMA are in the process of drafting the regulatory technical standards, which are currently in consultation.
