Opening up trade reporting data

See here for an article on Markets Media that summarises various comments on the state of trade repository data, as well as the desire to synchronise standards across rules and make them clearer. EMIR reporting started over two years ago, and yet it is proving difficult for regulators to read the data due to differing standards across the repositories. The new Regulatory Technical Standards for EMIR reporting are likely to take effect later this year, and these may streamline the data to some degree. The article also looks at the other data reporting initiatives in the financial world, in particular around MiFID II, which will affect market participants in energy and commodities in varying degrees.

On the topic of data reporting, the REMIT reporting deadline for off venue data is only weeks away, and yet much information about reporting is unclear. Hopefully today’s public meeting in Ljubljana will shed some light on these matters. A report will be issued here following the event.
