Article on ISINs

The use of International Securities Identifier Numbers (ISIN) will be greatly increased under both the new EMIR RTS, which starts to apply from 1st November, and also under the various types of  reporting under MiFID II. The extension of ISIN to derivatives is leading to quite a challenge, in terms of getting ISINs at the appropriate level of granularity, and generally getting them to fit across the assets classes.

This article on LinkedIn by Richard Young of Bloomberg looks at some of the difficult issues around ISINs, which will be helpful to many in the industry trying to understand the challenges.
